Nervosa, engulfed in darkness, rotting inside and out, was taking in what would be her final, labored breaths. Vaguely, though her hearing was dimming as well, she heard a voice speak to her through the darkness.

“I will carry you out of this hole,” the voice whispered. It was a sound Nervosa had not yet known, something different.

And so, she mustered a pathetic nod of her head and felt herself being lifted on to the back of what seemed to be a very small creature.
